Space Owner Basics

Creating your profile is the first step to becoming a Home-Me! (Also known as a Space Owner) Space Seekers rely on your profile to feel confident storing with you. Just head to your Become a Home-Me page to upload your listing details, add photos, and write a short, friendly bio.

Click “Become a Home-Me” in the top-right corner of the homepage. You’ll enter details about your space, upload photos, and submit it. Once approved, your listing will go live!

Once your listing is published, it’s time to attract Space Seekers. Reply within 48 hours to messages and space requests

You’ll get an email when a space seeker sends a space request.

Go to your My Listings page to review the request, including what the Space Seeker wants to store and for how long. To approve, simply respond to the email and make arrangements with potential Space Seeker.

Yes, there is a once-off fee to list your space as a Home-me. Payments are made via Payfast.

All storage agreements are encouraged to be month-to-month. If you need to end the rental early, just provide 30 days’ notice to your Home-Me or according to terms of your contract with your Home-Me. Home-Me (Pty) Ltd does not handle any agreements between Home-Me’s and Space Seekers.

Space Seeker Basics

After signing up, type a location into the search bar on the Home-Me homepage. Browse the map to find a space that fits your needs and budget. When you find a space you like, send the Space Owner, or rather known on this website as your Home-Me, a message. Disclose what you will be storing and make arrangements to view the space. 

Space Owners have up to 48 hours to respond to your request. You’ll be notified via email.

Once the Home-Me (Space Owner) approves your request, it’s time to coordinate the move-in. Use our platform messaging system to agree on a convenient date and time with your Home-Me.

Here’s what to do next:

  1. Read the Message:
  • Go to your Home-Me Messages on your profile.
  • Click on the unread conversation.
  1. Reply to Your Home-Me:
  • Type your message in the response box
  • Click “Send” to reply
  1. Wait for their response!

Tip: Responding promptly helps build trust, and in doing so Home-Me’s are more likely to secure successful reservations!
